La parabola musicale dell’ A.O.R. Westcoast è la stessa del pop di lusso americano: nato sulle ali pionieristiche del soul bianco e di certa fusion music, quindi assurto ad alfiere della contaminazione stilistica, infine ridimensionato e frazionato, abbandonando, di colpo, la leadership di vendite. I protagonisti di questa generazione sono ora, ciascuno per la propria strada. Qualcuno torna ogni tanto con qualche buon comeback, altri sono svaniti nel nulla. Sono artisti amati da un pubblico esigente e sofisticato, che però, eccetto alcuni casi, non sono riusciti mai ad agguantare saldamente il grande successo commerciale.
