Cruisin’ California - A.O.R. - Il Sound della West Coast - Part. 1

Tutti sanno quanto le passioni rendano conservatori. Il pop californiano , quello che oggi si definisce con l’acronimo A.O.R. Westcoast, non è mai stato in fondo una caratteristica individuabile in aree geograficamente delimitate. Non è neppure un concetto , ma soltanto un modo di essere in via d’estinzione, che seduce, di tanto in tanto, appassionati disseminati su questo ormai insolito territorio. Non ci sono più produttori mecenati che spendono energie e denaro nel rinnovare questo stile, né tantomeno ne tentano una parziale riconsiderazione. Attualmente l’unico mercato che garantisce una continuità è quello giapponese, dove hanno trovato conforto tutti gli artisti che negli anni passati hanno fatto della pop song un genere colto e raffinato. E così, tramite contratti con labels nipponiche, tornano alla ribalta i vecchi cimeli del sound westcoast, e qualche autore sordo per fortuna, a quanto è accaduto in peggio nella musica in questi ultimi venti anni. Il sottoscritto insieme ad altri due cultori come Leo Kalimba e Giampiero Cappellaro per sei anni ha condotto una trasmissione su Radio Radio chiamata “ Cruisin’ California “. Un programma dove si cercava di donare attualità a questa materia musicale predestinata all’oblio. Troverete in questo sito alcune raccolte da me compilate a suo tempo per un omaggio al cronicario dei nostalgici di cui mi vanto di far parte.
